These arrangements of Christmas favorites grew out of Larry’s improvisations on well loved carols. The melodies are certainly recognizable, however the styles and flavors are quite creative! This instrumental album is mostly solo piano with a few tracks having additional instruments.
1. O Come, O Come Emmanuel
Keys of Christmas is a compilation of Larry’s piano arrangements of favorite Christmas songs and hymns. Emmanuel means “God With Us.”
2. O Little Town of Bethlehem
A fun arrangement shifting from major to minor for the background of this favorite melody.
3. It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
A beautiful melody with a bit of mystery.
4. Angels We Have Heard On High
The walking bass and jazz chords give “Angels” a fresh energy that is fun to play!
5. Away In A Manger / Joy To The World
A building of energy from the manger to the pronouncement of Jesus’ coming to the whole world!
6. O Holy Night
This Christmas favorite is given a rhythmic variation to it’s traditional flavor.
7. We Three Kings
The minor key carols are some of my favorites.
8. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Another minor key carol with a bit of “mystery” mixed into the arrangement.
9. The First Noel
This loved carol features some beautiful chord progressions. It’s multiple verses give the message of the Christmas story sequence.
10. Carol of the Bells / What Child Is This?
An energetic “mash-up” of two Christmas favorites that is always a challenge to play! The additional instrumentation adds even more flavor to this fun piece.
11. Silent Night
Christmas is just not complete without Silent Night and candles. The story of how it was written so long ago still inspires us to be reflective remembering how significant the story of Jesus’ birth really is!
“Keys of Praise” – This solo piano recording features many favorite hymns we grew up hearing in Baptist churches. The range of styles includes gospel, country, and even a little classical.
